Tej grupy specjalnie nie trzeba przedstawiać jeśli ktokolwiek interesowuje muzyką hardcore punk to powinien znać prekursorów tego nurtu - Agnostic Front z Nowego Jorku.

Wszystko zaczęło się gdy w 1982 roku emigrant z Kuby Roger Miret spotkał gitarzystę Vinnie’go Stigmęi postanowili razem założyć zespół, który początkowo nazywał się Zoo Crew. Wkrótce jednak pod naciskiem Vinniego nazwę zmieniono na Agnostic Front (bo brzmiało to znacznie lepiej). Wkrótce do tej dwójki dołączył basista Adam Moochie i perkusista Ray Beez (znany później jako lider i wokalista innej legendarnej formacji Warzone).

Pierwszym wydawnictwem zespołu była Epka „United Blood”, obecnie osiągająca astronomiczne ceny wśród kolekcjonerów płyt. W 1984 zmienił się basista i perkusista nowymi członkami kapeli zostali Rob Kabula oraz Jim Coletti w odnowionym składzie grupa nagrała debiutancki album „Victim In Pain”. Na tym krążku znalazło się 15 minut bezkompromisowego czadu, który od tego czasu zaczęto nazywać nowojorskim hardcore’m. Ten album potwierdził status Agnostic Front jako liderów sceny hardcore i całego Ruchu czego potwierdzeniem były cykliczne imprezy „ Hardcore matinees” odbywające się w każdą niedzielę w legendarnym nowojorskim klubie CBGB’s. Na tych koncertach u boku Agnostic Front zadebiutowały takiekapele jak: Cro-Mags czy Murphy’s Law.

Agnostic Front nie omineły kolejne zmiany składu i na nowym albumie „Cause For Alarm” wydanym przez wytwórnię Combat na perkusji grał Louie Beatto i gitarzysta Alex Kinon. Zmianie uległa też muzyka zespołu i w ich nowych dokonaniach dało się słyszeć wpływy thrash metalu. „Cause For Alarm” był albumem, który stał się inspiracją dla sceny crossover metal/punk i takich zespołów jak: D.R.I. czy Corrosion Of Conformity. W 1997 roku ukazał się kolejny longplay „Liberty & Justice For All”. Kolejna płyta i kolejne zmiany składu na gitarze grał: Steve Martin, na basie Alan Peters a za perkusją zasiadł Will Shepler.

W 1989 roku Agnostic Front nagrał album koncertowy „Live at CBGB’s”. Na tej płycie zadebiutował basista Craig Setari (obecnie występuje w Sick Of It All). Na płycie znalazł się zbiór najlepszych utworów z dotychczasowej działalności zespołu. Wkrótce po nagraniu tej płyty Roger Miret został aresztowany za posiadanie narkotyków i skazany na dwa lata więzienia. Podczas nieobecności Mireta Vinnie Stigma zajął się kompletowaniem nowego składu zespołu. Drugim gitarzystą został Matt Henderson, a nieobecnego Miretazastępował wokalista Alan Peters. Zespół w tym czasie po raz pierwszy odwiedził Europę. Podczas pobytu w więzieniu Roger Miret pisał teksty na nowy album, który udało się zrealizować w 1992 roku. Album „One Voice” przez wielu uważany jest za jeden z najlepszych albumów w ich dotychczaso-wej dyskografii. W 1993 roku Agnostic Front nagrał kolejny koncertowy album „Last Warning” zarejestrowany w klubie CBGB’s, po nagraniu tej plyty Roger Miret postanowił przerwać zająć się remontowaniem motocykli i na kilka lat dał sobie spokój z muzyką. Stigma, Henderson i Shepler założyli Madball (wokalistą nowopowstałej kapeli został brat Rogera Freddie Cricien). Natomiast Craig Setari został nowymbasistą Sick Of It All.

W 1997 roku nieoczekiwanie Agnostic Front powrócił w oryginalnym składzie znanym z debiutanckiego albumu „Victim In Pain”. Zespół podpisał też kontrakt na nagranie trzech płyt dla czołowej niezależnej wytwórni Epitaph, dla której nagrał następujące płyty „Something’s Gotta Give” (1998) , „Riot Riot Upsarts” (1999) oraz „Dead Yuppies” (2001). W 2001 Roba Kabulę na basie zastąpił Mike Galo.

W 2002 roku Miret rozpoczął pracę nad solowym projektem "Roger Miret And The Disasters" skierowanym do fanów melodyjnego street punk rocka i rock’n’rolla. Pod tym szyldem dotychczas wydał cztery płyty. Z kolei w Agnostic Front nastąpiły zmiany personalne: najpierw odszedł basista Rob Kabula, a następnie perkusista Jim Colletti. Ich miejsce zajęli basista Mike Gallo i jego brat Steve.



Zespół powrócił też do cięższego grania spod znaku crossover i thrash, którego zapowiedzią był studyjny album „Another Voice” z 2005 roku wydany dla nowej wytwórni Nuclear Blast. W sesji nagraniowej zespół wspomógł gitarzysta Matt Henderson, który wcześniej grał na płycie „One Voice”, a potem udzielał się w Madball. Niestety nie mógł on koncertować z zespołem dlatego drugim gitarzystą został Joseph James.

Rok później pojawił się podwójny album Live In CBGB's na CD i DVD zarejestrowany 14 kamerami koncert w stylu "powrotu do korzeni". Grupa wydając ten koncert starała się uratować podupadające CBGB's. Dziesiątym studyjnym albumem AGNOSTIC FRONT był wydany w 2007 roku „Warriors”. Płytę promował videoclip do utworu „For My Family”.

Po europejskiej trasie promującej tej album odchodzi perkusista Steve Gallo a jego miejsce zajmuje Pokey Mo.



Dyskografię Agnostic Front zamyka wydany w 2011 roku album „My Life My Way”. Na tym krążku można znaleźć zarówno utwory punkowe odwołujące się do wczesnych dokonań grupy („My Life My Way” , „That’s Life”) jak i do późniejszych bardziej hardcore’owych dokonań: („City Street”, „More Than A Memory”). Na płycię znalazła się też jedna kompozycja „A Mi Manera” zaśpiewana wraz z Freddy Cricienem (który jest także producentem tej płyty) po hiszpańsku. Za brzmienie tej płyty odpowiedzialny jest Erik Rutan, który wcześniej pracował z Cannibal Corpse i Madball.

Legendary Hardcore/Thrash titans, AGNOSTIC FRONT, are back with another testament to the bands flawless legacy! Recorded at the now infamous Planet Z Studios in Hadley Massachusetts by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall), Warriors is the yet another landmark in hardcore’s history. Produced this time around by vocalist Roger Miret’s little brother, Freddy Cricien (Madball, Hazen Street), the bands message of family and unity has never come across stronger in their music. Warriors is a statement of strength in the face of adversity and few bands make a statement louder than AGNOSTIC FRONT.
In today’s civilization, people continue to suffer undergoing the grief, corruption, oppression and exploitation without a way to elude their troubles. Many have lived through these problems for ages, and the moment one tries to fight for what they believe is right, the elite brings them down and their voices are disregarded. For over a decade, AGNOSTIC FRONT has helped get these messages across to the populace to help solve these problems through socially driven music known as “hardcore.” In their latest offering, the band gives power and strength to these ignored voices. As one of the original hardcore bands that lived and breathed the problems that controlled their everyday New York City lifestyle since 1983, they have been amongst the most venerable and notorious outcasts of this hardcore movement.
These rarely confronted and always respected leaders of hardcore were established as one of the meanest-sounding bands in the emerging punk genre, helping to initiate the term "hardcore," and placing an entire uproar on the New York map by association. From the start, AGNOSTIC FRONT released a catalogue of fast and violent punk tunes consisting of distinctive and aggressive drumming, bass work, and a non-stop barrage of chaotic shouting. AGNOSTIC FRONT’s uncontrollable drumming and fuming guitars fill every minute like an onrushing storm of flailing limbs and incinerating transistors. The heavier paced balance between the energy and discipline of their earlier punk roots strikes a taut and vivid rock barrage that moshes in close formation. "It's social politics," Roger states. "The day-to-day reality of waking up, reading the newspaper, and walking around the neighborhood. It's a hard stare on why the world is still one fucked-up place, and we tackle the very real shit that's going down: gentrification's running rampant, street justice, world destruction, working wages, and backs are still being stabbed."

Long outliving their now-legendary contemporaries like Minor Threat, SSD, Dead Kennedys and Black Flag, AGNOSTIC FRONT could easily live off their laurels, but their fight is yet over! Throughout their storied history, AGNOSTIC FRONT have been anything but a ravishing group of individuals living prosperously and content. In fact, the band is more akin to have experienced growing up in adverse streets, undergoing arduous times, serving time in prison, become inflicted with murdered friends, the list would go on perpetually. But while there are definite vestiges of the past affecting them, they manage to continue and expose the conflicts they had to undergo in a compellingly evocative approach by relating it to their views of the world today.
AGNOSTIC FRONT continues to be living embodiment that "hardcore for life" isn't an empty slogan or a musical dead end. No one is born with tattoos. No one's born hardcore. But when the ink or the music sets in, you're changed. Their latest offering reaffirms that AGNOSTIC FRONT as a band, still operates like a musical razor blade. Regardless of their history, the proof is simple: AGNOSTIC FRONT’s anthems are hard, cutting, and the remarkable music continues to broaden with every release. “We support UNITY!
