Before Cars started out as an idea to record a few songs I wrote.I had thought about doing solo stuff for awhile, but I just never got around to it. After awhile I got tired of depending on so many others and various weird stuff eventually dissolving bands I would play with. Anyways,I got together with so close friends of mine, Paul Burback & Andy Miller and showed them a handful of my songs. From there we made a bunch of 4-track recordings and picked 4 songs to make a demo.Wasn't long after that,Rob Daily from Flotation Records(local label) contacted me about doing a single. So back in late 2006 we recorded the single which was released on vinyl only, and consisted of the songs "Old Chair" and "99 To Go". After that I started working towards a full length record. This took quite some time, heh.I recorded the record with Jack Endino in early spring and with some unforeseen delays, we finally got the record done in the summer. Had more delays with artwork and I don't remember what else. Finally after a year of the record being done, it came out back on June 16th of this year. and "wheeeew" is all I have to say about that stuff! :) On a side note.I'd like to mention I wrote this listening to the Blackouts "Men In Motion" EP. Damn that records good! Yet another side note thingy.I have never read through a single book written about Nirvana or Kurdt.Guess I just feel odd reading stuff I lived, heh. With that being said. There is a book that came out recently entitled "Grunge Is Dead" by Greg Prato, and is actually a very interesting read.Mostly due to the fact that it's pretty much filled with comments and stuff from just about everyone that was around during those years.More of the insider on things than the outsiders attempt to fill in the blanks! Anyways,I do recommend this book. It's a fun read! Ok,that's quite enough outa me! Cheers! -cHaD
